I was woken up this morning at 10:00am by the phone from a fellow student from my department. She is also the lecturer for an undergraduate course which Karen is taking as a requirement. She kindly reminded me a quiz she was going to give and asked Karen to be there instead of skipping the class. This is really a sweet beginning of another common day.

I continued to watch the TV series Six Feet Under, by which I had been preoccupied in the last few days. It is a story about a mortuary family named Fisher. Mr. Fisher is the starter of this business and died 3 years ago. Mrs. Fisher is an uptight woman in search for love. She has sensitive feelings, deep thought and very few words. Their oldest son, Nate, used to be an irresponsible dude sleeping around, who accidentally knocked up one of his old sex-partner, Lisa, and ended up to be a very good father.

Nate is my favorite character and I am going to say a few more words about him. It is kind of a very long story. I will try to make it short as well as precise.

Nate left his funeral home at the age of 17 because of hatred of his family. He was home for Christmas when his father was killed in a car accident. He chose to stay for his grieved mother, and had been supporting their family business since then. Nate is a good person in my eyes. He is handsome. He is polite. He is supportive.  He is also supposed to be good in bed. He met this girl, Brenda, in the airport, and they fucked. Both Brenda’s parents are shrinks and she is totally screwed-up herself. However strange her actions are, no matter how cynical she is, she is really knowledgeable, slim and beautiful. She turned out to be really attractive and appealing to Nate. They have been lovers since then and got engaged eight months later. They were a weird couple and each of them kept lots of secrets. Brenda became sex addicted with total strangers. Nate found out that he will be a dad in a few months, with somebody else than his fiancé. It is no surprise that a bitter breakup came when they found out each other’s secret. I forgot to mention that Nate has serious brain disease, something I never know called seizure. It became so imperative that Nate had to do a brain surgery, with a high chance to fail and die.  

 A new episode began and Nate miraculously survived.  He had been married with Lisa and they had a beautiful baby girl named Maya. They had fights every now and then but were doing well in general until one day, when Lisa was lost, and found out to be dead later. Nate broke down totally. He was never the same. After the funeral of his own wife, he could never be a funeral director which he used to do so well.

By the way, Nate has a younger brother named David, who is a gay. And a younger sister named Claire, who is an artist. All kinds of weird things happen to them too.

Poor Claire gave an abortion and kind David was robbed by a carjacker. This is when I stopped watching.

Six Feet Under is really a good TV series in my mind. It tells us how unpredictably death can come and how profoundly it will impact people’s life. It invokes us who lives to think about the meaning of death, and to live better.

Enough TV series for now. I had the best conversation with my mom over a very long time last night. No quarrel, no disagreement, no anger, just love and care for each other. Nothing is more important for us than the people we love.

I came to school to accompany my wife for lunch. Then I went to food lad for a training session. I am participating in an experiment designed to study eating behaviors. No shit about helping people and blar blar blar. I just care about the 50 bucks’ compensation and 10 free meals. When I signed the consent forms, I realized today is the end of January, 2007. What a cliché, but how time flies.

It was on my way back to Thomas when I saw the second thong in the snow these days. I really love snowing myself, but not as mush as those people. It reminds me of a used condom I happened to see on an outdoor tennis court last summer. Americans do like making out outside, don’t they?

今天上午的预测很快被证明是错误的，这个错误绝对是愉快的。看着心爱的火箭客场力压马刺，迈迪威风八面砍下37分，心中不知道有多愉快。而且这一切都是在姚明骨折养伤的情况下完成的，不禁让人开始yy姚明回归后阵容齐整的火箭的模样。这不，ESPN专家都说了，火箭防守好，加上姚明季候赛还真的有戏。

可能是看完这场比赛太过兴奋，竟然没了睡意。电视上ESPN2正在直播澳网女单半决赛，小克对莎娃。要说莎娃还真是牛X，双发失误无数竟然能轻取进攻大力防守稳健以稳定著称的小克。怪不得听人说莎娃大力，1米9的身高加力量可真不是盖的。最终莎娃直落两局轻取小克，与大威会师决赛。由于小克不堪伤病困扰，加之深深向往功成名就后相夫教子的生活，早已决定打完本赛季退役，这场比赛也就成为小克澳网的绝唱。赛后两位选手的感言让人体会到竞技体育背后难得的温情，互相祝福后小克期待重整合山，莎娃期待实现突破。

其实同时进行的ESPN的NBA FASTBREAK和FSN的BEST DUNK节目我还都没错过。今晚真是好戏连台，奥胖复出成为各大媒体争相 报道的头条。许多比赛也打到精彩的OT。BEST DUNK更是爽到毙，有单臂风车，有侧身劈扣，有反身倒扣，有隔人暴扣。最暴力的当数雨人Kemp扣碎篮板的表演，最优雅的当数J博士的空中滑翔，最有表演性的是乔丹的巧妙过人后一跃升天，最ridicules的还是卡特完全越过7feet高人头顶的暴扣。看完这些比赛中的扣篮，一个猛人在节目现场表演了超炫的720度空中转体扣篮，绝对是见所未见，耸人听闻。

BTW，今天下午抽空看了血钻，还不错，挺喜欢这个故事的。

不说了，继续看球去。3：30am 罗迪克对费德勒，绝对精彩的好戏。亲了亲熟睡的老婆，她在睡梦里笑了一个，算是征得同意了吧。呵呵。

After surfing through the internet for the blog written by my friends, I made up my mind to write more myself. Since not really many things are happening around me everyday, I decided to write about something that I really know, or at least I think I know, which is sports.

In the world of sports, competition is the main theme forever. Whoever wins the competition gets the honor and prize, gets the respect from other people. Whoever loses can only compete to win next time.

The biggest sports news today has to be the winning of Chang Hao over Li Changhao in the world series of I-go. As the representative player from China, Chang Hao has a history of ending up with runner-up in a championship game. He has been beaten by Li Changhao lots of times over the past 10 years. This is the second worldwide title for Chang Hao, which also puts an end to the so-called Era of Li. Chang Hao brought home 200 million Korean Yen as the prize money.

As the saying goes, there is no forever winner. The three-consecutive-time Australia Open winner Martina Hingis, was knocked off by Kim Clijsters in the quarterfinal game. Hingis started her winning here 10 years ago in 1996 and left a brilliant history behind her. However, after her early retirement and comeback, the women’s tennis world has been totally changed. Powerful players, like Clijsters, Sharapova and the Williams sisters, are taking complete control over the skillful players like Hingis.  

I am still cherishing the soccer game last weekend. You know what I am talking about. Yes, the Manchester United again Arsenal. 120 million people watched the live game in front of TV like me. Rooney scored first at the beginning of the second half. In the last ten minutes, Van Persey and Henry made two incredible shots and helped Arsenal win the game from behind. This is really a sweet moment for the Arsenal fans. They swept the series against the Manchester United in the Premier League.

Another big news last week is from pool. Ding Junhui lost the championship game in tears. He is believed to become a dominant pool player in the near future. Let’s go and see.

 As a huge NBA fan, I am not really interested in the red-hot teams like Mavericks and Suns. I am looking forward to the Spurs v.s. Rocket game tonight. Spurs is going to beat the clock and win by the final shot.

什么叫做爽，中国古人有云：久旱逢甘雨，他乡遇故知，洞房花烛夜，金榜题名时。今天，偶老婆和偶是彻彻底底的爽了一把。等待许久的F2转F1身份问题终于在新学期来临之际解决了！朱箐同志已经正式成为PSUer,成为扬眉吐气的F1了。用老婆的话说，这是我们夫妻两个一起的第一个重大成功，是咱们共同努力的结果。老婆的兴奋之情如滔滔江水，怎样宣泄都不为过，先是仰天长哮数声，然后开始疯狂打电话。用不到5分钟的时间通知了所有的朋友同学，只可惜父母的电话迟迟没有打通。老婆说了，以后不仅是美国博士的老婆了，还是自己有美国学位的人了。得意忘形之余，竟然又静下心来，认真完成了明天要交的作业。

放心了。

最近好玩的事还是有一些的，不过自己真的懒的可以，一直拖着，就什么都没写，直到现在。

寒假转眼就过去了，今天是开学第一天，感觉新的学期还是有新的迹象的。比如动笔写博客。

为了避免写流水帐，用新颖的列举的方法记载本文。

1．  寒假跟老婆和Steve一家去了佛罗理达。途经迈阿密，key west和奥兰多。总体感觉相当不错，迪斯尼和universal当然是花了很多时间玩的很high，迈阿密的风光更是难忘。

2．  寒假某天跟Scott一同caving了一把。用一个词描述就是extreme。绝对属于所谓的极限运动。攀洞类似攀岩，不过攀岩往上攀，攀洞往下钻。不知道脚下是什么，不知道后面是什么。绝对刺激。没有好的向导，我绝对没法活着出来。

3．  最近开始教老婆打国标麻将。老婆以前从来不爱玩，现在却被我调教成近一流好手。

4．  老婆爱上了健身，跑步什么的不在话下，乒乓，壁球，网球一起上，学的都还有模有样。

5．  老婆把逛街购物的兴趣逐步转移到烹饪。我三呼万岁。可惜没有照相机，不能把老婆做的美食照片拿来与大家分享。

反正最近最大的收获绝对是和老婆的共同进步吧。共同语言越来越多，互相督促互相学习也渐渐上了正轨。刚跑步回来的老婆现在正坐在我旁边认真看着书，赞！我也不能落到后面。哼哼，学习去也。
