Third update today; First two are more interesting

I have been writing about the importance of time and an introduction to economics website. Now anyone who is really familiar with me knows what I am going to do next. Besides complaining and bragging, what do I really care? Bingo, it's sports.

Thanks to a whole bunch of leisure time, I am now emerged in sports again.

AC milan just won 1:0 against Celtics yesterday. Small incident here. When I told my wife yesterday, I had to explain it's not Boston Celtics, though they are both related to Irish. Kaka received the European Golden Ball Trophy before the game and exhibited it in front of hometown fans.Sedof played has 100th UEFA championship game. Pipo Inzagi scores his 63rd goal and set an all-time new record for scores in UEFA championship league. AC milan is going to Tokyo to try to bring home the World Club Throphy and become the single club with most international titles (they used to share this honor with Real Madrid?) However, as a Milan fan, it feels so wierd that it has yet to win a home game in the Italian A league this season. Last season is odd and lucky for Milan. This season is still odd, but we may not be that lucky. For a sports that youth and speed means even more than strengh and skills, AC milan is too old and too slow. Inter Milan seems more impressive than ever. Italian fans are expecting more from them in the championship league and may end up disappointed again. History always repeats itself. Similarly, Barcelona and Read Madrid are having all the drama like they did last year at Spain. England national team proves that they are the most inable famous team, again. English clubs are strong as usual. Chelsea is still the old Chelsea without Muririo. They won't stop competing until the end of this season, when things might shake up. Old Ferguson and Dr. Wenger are sharing greetings and words all the time as usual.

So much soccer drama for now. Time for predictions. Italian league champion: Inter Milan. Runner up: Juventus. Spain league champion: Real Madrid. Runner up: Barcelona. English Premier league champion: MU. Runner up: Arsenal. (Like last season, reighing champions restore the old system.) UEFA league champion: Arsenal. Runner up: Barcelona.  (Like AC milan got its chance against Liverpool, Arsenal is going to take what it belongs to them from Barcelona this time.)

As to NBA, I am leaving state college to watch live NBA New Jersey nets v.s. Houston Rockets tommorrow. By the way, neither of those teams are my favourite, teamwise. If you watch NBA long enough and is not too addicted to superstars, you are going to understand NBA is about team-playing, defense and good coaching. Neither team has any player or coaching staff on their roster with a single championship ring. Vince Carter and T-Mac do have talent, but they still fall short with Kobe, skill-wise or mindset-wise, not a little shorter, but much shorter. And even Kobe seems as far to his next Champtionship ring as is Bynam to next Jaber. All three teams above are not even contenders now. Rumor goes that Kidd is becoming free agent next year and will become a laker. Even Nash indicates playing for Rockets in a few years. Even these become true, they may still wait for Tim Duncun to be a little older, or Dirk Nowiski to be still soft, to become west conference champion. Detroit or Celtics might be waiting for them. More likely, Wade or James or Howard has built a strong team with young talent around themselves, and is ready to take over more than ever. All these scenarios do not even take into consideration of Utah or Denver. Anthony is not going anywhere in the next five years. While Duncan, Kobe and T-mac are getting older, Boozer and D-Williams are getting more experienced, they may accomplish what Karl Malon and Stockton fail to accomplish with Sloan, after coaching Jazz for something like 20 years. After all, they are not in the same period as Jordan. James won't be next Jordan. No one would ever be.

Time for prediction. Western conference final: Jazz over Suns. (Whoever beats Rockets in the previous year first round would be in the final; Mavs have done this before) Eastern conference final: Celtics over Detroit. (I just do not trust Sandres. He is going to be fired sooner or later. In this case, sooner, after this offseason). Final: Jazz over Celtics. Celtics is going to fall short because of their bench and their starting point guard. Rondo is going to be humiliated by D-Williams. Big three lost their best chance in life for a NBA champion and will be back on that stage again, not as leaders. D-Williams become a lengend after the game, just like what Wade did in 2006. However, Boozer is much yonger than O'neal and D-Williams is much less selfish than Kobe. They are going to stay togegher and form a dynasty.

By the way, all predictions are for entertainment only and has no intention to offend anyone. I totally understand that fans can be really aggressive and serious. So if anyone has any differnt opionion, I am the one that is wrong and I am sorry for all my B.S. predictions.

    An Economics Website

I was talking to my roomie, Xiaoqiang, about a website www.mises.org yesterday. I am happy that he is interested. Now I am going to share it with more friends.

This website is about economics. Not common economics we learn at school or economics carried out by today's goverment. But Austrian economics about free marketing, about business cycles, about critisizing fiat money policy, and more generally, about how to mazimize what one can get from life. All these creative thoughts are first brought out by someone who lived a century ago, whose name is Ludwig von Mises. People may be more familiar with interventionism, Keynesian or statism. Mises have been criticizing these economics blatantly. He shows clearly how these economic thinking is not benifiting people but politicians and goverment. My favourite part of this website is its daily articles. It updates almost everyday. Someone very inteligent shares his or her thought about some newly-happened event around your life. What's the economics behind these commonly seen events? Why and why not certain policies will work? Why is this and that happening? It is from this website that I learned why there are so many problems in our society and why, more often than not, the remedies given by the goverment
are not going to really work.

Another plus for this website is the free books it provides. It's under literature and E-books. One can never emphasize enough the importance of reading. The nutrition you can get from these books is hard to imagine. But again, if you think like an economist, you are going to question the oppurtunity cost here. I can't blame you if you have more important things to do. Just when you are really free and have nothing else to do. Like when no friends is online and all TV programs suck at the same time, no homework due and no friends available to party. Plus all this, you happen to be awake and not sleepy. This sounds like never going to happen. But if it indeed happens, (If you do spend time and read to this line, it's definitely going to happen to you), then you might want to start going to www.mises.org and maybe start loving it like me. Who knows?

    Random thoughts

It has been more than a week since I passed the comprehensive exam. I was not feeling that stressful before the exam and consequently, I did not feel that reliefed after passing the exam. It feels so good to have an aim in your life and spend time working on it. Now that a temporary aim is captured, I can't help but watching time fly by.

After all, maybe taking some rest is good. I miss watching TV. It feels really good to turn on TV and spend endless hours on it without feeling any guilt at all in your mind. Either it is animal planet or sports channel does not matter. Paparazi news or CNN is also fun and informative. Two days passed. The TV has been on for a while. I fell asleep occasionally. Now I am bored.

Killing time becomes a process without an end. It just drives me crazy starting to realize this. Time is the only really scarce resourse in today's life. Everyone is complaining the pace of life and the lack of time. It seems unforgivable to waste time without a purpose. It feels really good that I have time to go running several laps with my wife everyday. However, now that I have nothing to focus on in life besides her, we start picking up fights inevitably.

I am getting punished by not utilizing my time properly. I need refocus and another aim in my life.

    Like, winning the next WSOP?

    Just kidding.

    Seriously, what's life for?
